Randomosity

Some more random goodness.

Enjoy…

A group called Special Operations Opsec Education Fund, full of ex-military, Tea Party members, and Republicans has put out a 22-minute video, "Dishonorable Disclosures," slamming President Obama for overseeing the bin Laden raid. It edits footage to purposefully make it appear that the President takes credit for the raid, which, for a fact, he did not. The group claims to be non-partisan.

Admiral Wm. H. McRaven, the commander of JSOC and overseer of the bin Laden raid said of President Obama: “The President and his national security team — I’m not a political guy, but I will tell you as, as an interested observer in this — they were magnificent in how they handled it start to finish... At the end of the day, make no mistake about it, it was the President of the United States that shouldered the burden for this operation, that made the hard decisions, that was instrumental in the planning process, because I pitched every plan to him.” He also said to Wolf Blitzer: “Let me make one thing clear: I didn’t order the raid.” To which Blitzer then addressed the audience with: “But he told the President of the United States that he thought he could do it.” To which Admiral McRaven reiterated: “And this is not a small point. The fact of the matter is, it was the President of the United States that ordered the raid.” Blitzer: “And he deserves an enormous amount of credit for that decision.” Adm. McRaven: “Absolutely, he does.” Blitzer: “What kind of commander in chief is he?” Adm. McRaven: “The President of the United States? Fantastic. Again, I’m not a political guy. I’ve worked in both administrations. I very much enjoyed working for President Bush. And I very much enjoy working for President Obama. And it’s, again, this isn’t about politics but a commander in chief who I have the opportunity to engage with on a routine basis. And watching him and the decisions he makes along with his national security team. They’re a very impressive group of guys and gals.”

Beware of RAMPAGING MURDEROUS LIBERALS!

So, last week a guy with 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in his backpack shot a security guard once in the arm at the Christian, right-wing, anti-gay hate-group, Family Research Council , after declaring, “I don’t like your politics.” Immediately, the right-wing began its campaign of fear-mongering, “informing” us of how dangerous and violent the left-wing is (legitimately assuming the shooter is a Liberal, although it is not known for a fact) and how the Conservatives are constantly under violent attack by the violent Liberals because of how violent and intolerant they are. Of course, this one guy with one gun and one box of bullets and two 15-round magazines in his backpack points to a blatant, on-going pattern of violence toward Conservatives by Liberals. Naturally, on the other hand, the years and years and years of murders, beatings, arson and calls to violence done by the right-wing toward the left are all just isolated incidents and cannot be in any way attributed to the right. Naturally.

Frankly, in my opinion, this whole thing stinks of a set-up.

Picture it: A man goes to Chick-fil-A, purchases 15 sandwiches, stuffs them in his backpack to make his motives absolutely, unmistakably clear – or something, I guess. Really? I dunno. Whatever. Then, with one 9mm Sig Sauer in hand, and two extra magazines and a box of ammo in his back pack, 50 bullets total, he enters the known hate-group’s headquarters. He proclaims, “I don’t like your politics,” (I imagine him waving his finger admonishingly in the air and possibly adding, "Harumph-harumph-rumph!" for dramatic effect.) again making his motives crystal clear and manages to shoot the security guard only once, non-fatally in the arm. After which, the wounded and completely unfazed security guard is able to bravely tackle the shooter to the ground with a gun aimed at him point blank and hold him until authorities arrived. How? Then, ignoring the unending violence continually being perpetrated by the right, a whole bunch of Conservative groups come out of the woodwork pretending this is a modern holocaust being enacted by Liberals against Conservatives. And blame the media for having a liberal bias for not bashing Liberals for this evil act of perpetual murderous violence against Conservatives.

Never mind. I'm probably wrong. It’s totally believable.

Either way, real or fabricated, this “Liberal violence” event wouldn’t even show up on a graph comparing Conservative violence to Liberal violence.

This article, "U.N. Agreement Should Have All Gun Owners Up In Arms," is a fantastic right-wing fear-mongering article in Forbes about the UN circumventing the Second Amendment and taking away all our guns. It’s amazing to me how Republicans can speak at such a length and have all the false information sound so cogent. Right-wing nut-jobs LOVE to constantly tell gun nuts that the government is going to take away all our guns. It never happens, but reality doesn’t seem to have any effect on what these right-wingers want to believe.

The funny thing about this article is that its author, Larry Bell seems to have gotten all his (mis)information from one of those fact-deprived, scare tactic chain emails that was making the rounds almost two years ago. Yes, that’s where I get all my information from, too, Larry.

The fact of the matter is, the UN General Assembly resolution that started the process on the Arms Trade Treaty explicitly states that it is “the exclusive right of States to regulate internal transfers of arms and national ownership, including through Constitutional protections on private ownership.” The UN is taking no one’s guns away.

Aside from that, the UN has NO authority over our Constitutional rights anyway. Not now, not ever. This treaty is strictly regarding international exporting. Nobody's guns will be taken away. But I’m sure these facts won’t put an end to right-wing extremists proclaiming almost hourly that they will.

Did you ever hear about President Obama’s “Operation: Fast and Furious” plan (that was started by the Bush administration) to give guns to Mexican drug lords to cause violence to create a reason to make stricter gun laws in America that resulted in the death of an American border patrol agent? Did you hear how Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt for not releasing subpoenaed documents to House Republicans regarding Fast and Furious, even though the requested documents have traditionally been kept private by past administrations of both parties? Did you know that this entire story was a totally fabricated conspiracy theory by Alabama right-wing militia blogger, Michael Vanderboegh Michael Vanderboegh, who is a few sandwiches short of a picnic? Did you know FOX “News” pretended Vanderboegh was credible and called him an “authority” on the Fast and Furious investigation and they identified him as an “Online Journalist” and pushed this story as if it were real? Did you know that Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict? Did you know Darrell Issa and the House Republicans then latched onto Vanderboegh’s conspiracy theory like a baby to its mother’s teat for completely partisan political gamesmanship? And did you also know that Republicans never care about facts as long as a fabulously fake story makes Democrats look bad or makes Republicans look good?

The “Fast and Furious” part starts at 4 minutes, but Rachel leads in with an excellent example of a previously invented conspiracy by the right-wing:

Protect voting rights, Todd? Nah. That lets everyone vote. Even ‘undesirables.’ Let the States decide, because that worked out so well in the past, the Federal Government had to enact laws to prevent voter suppression. And it’s not like anyone’s votes are being suppressed now, like people who vote Democratic.

Oh, wait. Did you think that was all? I can't even lead into this one. Just brace yourself.

And then there's THIS.

*****     *****     *****     **     *****     *****     *****

Willard Romney and his yachting partner, Paul Ryan keep saying that Obama wants to take $700 Billion out of Medicare to put into Obamacare. This is absolutely true. One thing those yacht-rockers keep failing to mention is that their plan does the same thing.

Are you interested in knowing the difference between their plans? Then please, by all means, continue reading.

“The best defense on Medicare is a good offense and Paul Ryan gives us the ability to play offense.” – Speaker of the House, John Boehner

I think Boehner is confusing the terms ‘playing offense’ and ‘being offensive.’

Obamacare:
- The $700B in savings to the Medicare budget is done by cutting overpayments to private insurance companies and hospitals, which reduces overall cost to Medicare

The Romney/Ryan plan:
- The $700B in savings to the Medicare budget is done by cutting beneficiaries – government spending on the program goes down but a rise in costs are directly shifted to seniors in accordance, so actual costs overall to the program stays the same
- Privatizes insurance, handing control over to insurance corporations
- More money goes into the pockets of CEO’s instead of into the cost of care
- Prescription drug costs will rise
- Preventative services costs will rise
- As future costs inevitably rise, the voucher amounts stay the same, not rising in accordance so even more money will have to be paid by seniors – unlike the plan congress enjoys where the voucher stays at a fixed percentage of health care costs so their payments stay exactly the same no matter the cost increase
- Overpayments to private insurance companies are left alone, so health care costs stay high and continue to rise, and the higher payments are shifted onto senior citizens

Any questions?

Maybe this will help:

Hey, remember in my last post when I thanked Soledad O’Brien for not letting John Sununu lie about Obamacare’s $700 Billion in savings? Well, Romney thought his national campaign co-chair, the most boring man in the world, Tim Pawlenty would do a better job at lying to Soledad this week. Watch little Timmy just repeat stuttery nonsense…

I salute you, Soledad O’Brien.

Before I go, I have a question for my Conservative friends: Why did you believe “trickle-down economics” was wonderful during Reagan’s 50% tax rate, but believe America will become pure business-killing socialism under Obama’s proposed 39% rate?

It’s because he’s from Kenya, right?

Good day.
