Fascism?

I wrote the bulk of this one year ago. It is a comparison between Fascism as proposed by Mussolini in his Doctrine of Fascism written in 1932 and the Republican Party in America as it currently stands in 2012. I was reminded of this rant since the topic of Fascism came up (albeit by me) during the conversation I had in a recent post titled, “Manufactured Outrage,” on 28 February. Please give it a perusal if you haven’t already. Personally, I find the conversation posts to be more interesting than my mono-perspective rants.

I’ve been calling Republican ideals Fascist for a while now. But I’m not doing it in the ignorant, baseless, moronic, fear-mongering way that Republicans proclaim anything not right-wing extreme to be Marxist, communist, Muslim, anti-Constitutional, anti-Christ, Kenyan, no birth certificate, illegals. I base what I say on actual, researchable facts.

But tell me, is my ‘Republican Fascism’ hypothesis wrong?

The problem with not speaking in bumper sticker-length phrases for small minds to comprehend is that this one’s quite lengthy, so make a pot of coffee first.

Enjoy…

The title of this rant has a question mark not because I am unaware of what Fascism is and am asking its definition. Au contraire, mon frère. I know exactly what Fascism is. The question mark is there because I think the fear that socialism is spreading like some sort of disease across the face of this great nation due to the regime of our un-American first black president and his Ivy League, elitist, limousine liberal, leftist, radicalized cronies is a red herring for what is really happening. I guess what the title should really be is: Modern Republican “Conservatism” or Fascism: Is There Any Notable Difference? But that’s a little too off-putting right from the start. My Republican friends who just might have on the off chance mistakenly read this would instantly be put on the defensive and probably not read it at all. And I don’t want to upset anyone. I’m just here to drop a little knowledge, yo. It’s not my fault that information angers stupid biased people. And again, the comparison between the Republican Party and Fascism is just my own opinion based on blatantly observable facts. I could be wrong. Just send me a smoke signal to let me know the truth. I’m open for debate.

Hey! I know how you can misquote me! Check it out:

“…socialism is spreading like some sort of disease across the face of this great nation due to the regime of our un-American first black president and his Ivy League, elitist, limousine liberal, leftist, radicalized cronies…” - Bill Mancuso

Sarcasm taken out of context and presented as honest opinion. Cool, huh? I just did FOX “News’” job.

To be clear, absolutely clear: I am not a Democrat. Just because I so wholeheartedly disagree with everything the Republican Party stands for (Actually, that’s not true. I do believe in some of what they CLAIM to stand for. And I don’t care that I just ended a sentence with a preposition or started this one with a conjunction. You understand its function and I have no compunction. Sometimes sentence structure rules are stupid. And the difference between ‘who’ and ‘whom’ is a bit ostentatious. Sentence fragments. Non sequiturs tickle my fancy.), it does not make me a member of the only other political party in America. See, in my world, I’m not confined to a finite set of labels that I absolutely must be classified under. I think for myself. As Patrick McGoohan, The Prisoner said: "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own."

At the end of the day, the topics of my blog aren’t about the Democrats because 137 rants titled “The Democrats Are Cowards” and the body of each rant being “The Democrats are spineless fucking pussies.” would be kind of boring and redundant. Don’t you think? On the other hand, Republicans keep finding new (and re-using old and repetitive brainwashing) ways of destroying the middle class in their zeal for a totalitarian regime consisting of only millionaires. And their slaves.

The following is the description of Fascism. Blue, italicized words in brackets are my interjection. Sometimes I make up new words. It’s fun! You should try it!

On with the show, this is it…

Fascism is a radical, authoritarian nationalist political ideology. Fascists seek to organize a nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems, including the political system and the economy. [According to our mostly conservative Supreme Court, corporations are now considered people; tax breaks to million/billion dollar corporations; oil companies are subsidized with taxpayer money even though their profits are in the billions every quarter; agriculture subsidies. True, it’s not only Republicans handing out tax breaks and subsidies, but let’s weigh how much and to who(m) and in conjunction with. Dig?]

Fascists believe that a nation requires singular collective identity, [Not belonging to the singular collective identity: blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, Jews, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, mentally or physically handicapped, Asians - I could go on forever so I’ll just tally what does belong: white, Christian, Republican, male. And wealthy. We can’t skip the wealthy.] and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong [Vietnam, Korea, Iran-Contra, Iraq. Demanding the invasion of Iran and Libya. US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and all the preceding incessant talk of reloading and shooting and cross-hair targeting and cold refusing to budge on limiting magazine capacity from an absurd 30 bullets down to a reasonable 10-ish - and NOBODY wants to completely take away guns except maybe for an occasional Nutty Democrat, but no one takes them seriously, so shut the fuck up about that fear-mongering, vote-pandering bullshit already.]

Fascists claim that culture is created by the collective national society and its state, that cultural ideas are what give individuals identity, and thus they reject individualism [Everyone = white, Christian, guns, unrestricted capitalism bordering on whorish greed, “You’re either with us or you’re against us in the fight against terror.”]. Viewing the nation as an integrated collective community, they see pluralism as a dysfunctional aspect of society [Bad = charity, community organizing, helping those in need/less fortunate, other ideas, religions not Christian, no belief in religion, nationalities other than American, ethnicities other than Caucasian/Anglo-Saxon], and justify a totalitarian state as a means to represent the nation in its entirety [Bad = unions, workers’ rights, opinions, free thought not conforming to their own ideals hence the new laws by Republican Governors banning First Amendment right to protest grievances, any other party than Republican -- witch-hunts are always mounted by the right-wing against any other belief than theirs using fear-mongering as their main weapon – as demonstrated aptly in Republican Peter King’s McCarthy-style witch hunts]. Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state. Fascist governments forbid and suppress opposition to the fascist state and the fascist movement. [Republicans have been systematically dismantling unions at least since the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 - which naturally work against Republican Party ideals, gerrymandering voting districts, falsely claim voter fraud to give reason for Republicans to pass new laws suppressing new/ethnic/young/elderly voters - all which statistically support the Democratic party,  “If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier, just so long I’m the dictator.”   The only voter fraud being perpetrated is by Republican politicians. If you scroll through my ¡Vete a la Chingada, los Republicanos! Page in the right column, I’ve cataloged several instances. Check #5, #6, #13, #25, #29, #43, #45, #51 and #52. Or you could enjoy THIS article which explains in detail the tactics employed by the Republicans to stop Democratic-leaning voters. Also, check out what they're doing in Michigan  - Governor Rick Snyder can claim a town is in a financial emergency, remove ALL it’s democratically-elected officials and insert a Boss Hogg character to take over the town with no salary cap - just about the most fucking dictatorish and anti-conservative and anti-American you can possibly fucking get. Fuckers. And did I forget to mention the other things Snyder (as well as other governors in other states like Wisconsin and Ohio) is doing to abate the state deficit? Oh, well let me fill you in. He’s giving tax cuts to millionaires and raising taxes on the elderly and poor families with children. Yeah, that makes sense, you fucking scumbag. And what Governor Walker in Wisconsin is doing in the name of fiscal responsibility (in reality it’s the farthest thing from fiscal responsibility and ONLY about union-busting - you can’t give $140 million in tax breaks to corporations and then immediately claim there’s a $143 million budget shortage  and demand the problem is all those mansion-living, Lamborghini-driving, caviar-eating teachers. No, the $140 mil didn’t cause the deficit, but explain exactly how it helps, fucko. And Walker is going to steal $26 million of the $140 million Wisconsin is receiving from the Federal Government that’s supposed to go to mortgage debt relief to instead abate the state deficit HE created. Yes, the state budget was balanced when he took office.) is basically what Governor Perry did in Texas a couple years ago. And all that accomplished was exploding the debt at the same time as reducing workers’ rights. And after only two months in office (I don’t know if that’s a record), there was already a massive grassroots recall movement in effect for Walker and a bunch of other Wisconsin Republican senators due to their attempts to assassinate the middle class. And they collected twice as many signatures that were needed to get the Walker recall on the ballot.

But no, it’s cool. Those corporations need more tax breaks. That has no effect on state budget deficit. It’s not like that in nine states - including Oregon, Ohio and Rhode Island - more money is collected by the state lottery than from corporate income tax - wait, what? That can’t be true. That’s not even remotely sustainable. Ah, but it IS true! In Oregon alone, for every dollar collected in income tax, $1.20 is collected by the lottery. The lottery is doing 20% better than the state government in revenue! FFFFuuuuuccckkk. Republican governors unite!

And did you hear about THIS shit: Minnesota Republicans are pushing legislation that would make it a crime for people on public assistance to have more $20 in cash in their pockets any given month. Yeah, seriously. Which, I suppose, is better than their initial proposal, which wanted to ban them from having any money at all. It’s nice to see they do have heart after all. A heart the size of a cafeteria meatball.

And let’s not forget Mitt Romney, main contender for Republican presidential candidate, who said that he’s not concerned about the poor because they have “safety nets.” Yeah, safety nets for the poor - which also happen to be the Republicans’ mission to abolish.

In case this chart is unclear, it says the less money you make,
the more money will be cut from your pay.

But there are those mouth-breathers who think, “Thith ith why the Republicanth were voded in.” No. They weren’t. Republicans just keep SAYING that’s why they were voted in to cover up the REAL and ONLY items EVER on their agenda. And like a good little lemming, they believe and repeat it. I’m sick of hearing the phrase, ‘The American people want…’ because it’s almost NEVER what the American people want. That’s a phrase used to justify bullshit. For two years the Pumpkin King, John Boehner bashed Obama with, “where are the jobs, where are the jobs, where are the jobs.’ Their mid-term platforms were all about creating jobs, jobs, jobs. The people voted them in because they said they were going to create jobs, jobs, jobs. So what did they do after taking control of the house?
-They scheduled themselves to work two weeks on and have the third week off;
-H.R. 3: No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act;
-H.R. 217: Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act;
-H.R. 358: Protect Life Act;
-H.R. 2: Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act;
-H.R. 1076: To prohibit Federal funding of National Public Radio and the use of Federal funds to acquire radio content Act.

That’s right. After scheduling vacation, they tried again to implement their own religion-influenced, self-righteous social issues. Of which, only a small minority agree. That would be Christian fundamentalists.

First of all, every time the Republicans introduce a new bill that tries to block taxpayer funding for abortion, it's one and ONLY use is to fire up the base - SINCE TAX-FUNDED ABORTIONS HAVE ALREADY BEEN ILLEGAL FOR DECADES. You can't make it illegal-illegal. It's like trying to make Sharia law (religious Muslim law) illegal in America. It already fucking IS illegal as stated in the First Amendment to the Constitution regarding a separation of Church (fucking ALL of them) and State. But I forgot, Republicans only follow the parts of the Constitution they like - or reinterpret to the way they like. (I don’t know exactly when, but this ‘separation’ issue is going to be the topic of a future rant.)

Then they attacked unions, schools, police, firemen, nurses and Planned Parenthood. And guess what? EVERY SINGLE THING ON THE REPUBLICAN AGENDA IS A JOB KILLER AND/OR RAISES THE DEFICIT. Which would make our current recession look like an appetizer. Then the Pumpkin King said he didn't care if people lost their jobs. That if people lose their jobs, "so be it." And he didn’t even shed a single, saddened tear.]

Idolization and exaltation of violence, war, and militarism are central components of fascism, which fascists see as providing positive transformation in society, in providing spiritual renovation, education, instilling of a will to dominate in people's character, and creating national comradeship through the military service. [Jeez. That’s almost like a Republican motto.]

They believe that economic classes are not capable of properly governing a nation, and that an elite of experienced military persons must rule through regimenting a nation's forces of production and securing the nation's independence.

Fascism rejects the concepts of liberalism, egalitarianism (equal opportunity), materialism (not ‘materialistic’ but the concept of science over religion), and rationalism (deductive reasoning in search of truth) in favor of action, discipline, hierarchy, spirit, and will [Don’t really need to elaborate here, do I? If that other paragraph was like their motto, this one is like the Republicans’ fucking LAW.].

Most fascist movements, other than Nazism, promote a corporatist economy whereby, in theory, representatives of capital and lobbyists work together within corporations to create both harmonious labor relations and maximization of production that would serve the national interest. [That’s the theory. In reality, lobbyists and corporations working together do not under any circumstances ever create harmonious labor relations, maximize production or serve the national interest. What that does is serve the rich corporations and their interests - keeping more money - and strip laborers of their rights, pensions, fair pay and dignity. Class warfare. Turning workers into slaves. Yet another Republican motto.]

One commonly accepted definition of fascism is that of anti-liberalism, anti-communism, nationalist, authoritarian goals [Incessantly screaming about following the Constitution - except when they want to do things that aren’t in the Constitution or when they want to amend the Constitution.] for the creation of a regulated economic structure [Which invariably is giving tax cuts/loopholes for the rich and foisting the payment onto the backs of the ever-dwindling middle class as in Reagan’s Tax Reform Act of 1986, cutting spending on social programs and increasing the military budget even if they don’t want it - defense budget 1999: $300 billion - defense budget 2010: $900 billion - The U.S. military budget accounts for approximately 40% of global arms spending and is over six times larger than the military budget of China. China! Who the fuck are we fighting? I mean, other than our own middle class. The largest air force in the world is the U.S. Air Force. The second largest air force is the U.S. Navy! However, right-wing sources like conservative think-tank The Heritage Foundation claim defense spending is at near historic lows. Near historic lies?] to transform social relations within a modern, self-determined culture and a political aesthetic using romantic symbolism [Ronald Reagan – who today Republicans would drum out of the Party for being a Socialist], mass mobilization, a positive view of violence [Yup.], promotion of masculinity and youth and charismatic  leadership. [Charismatic, yet unsuitable for leadership due to almost comic lack of intelligence. i.e. Sarah Palin, G.W. Bush, Christine O’Donnell, Michele Bachmann, Rand Paul, Newt Gingrich, Herman Cain, frothy Rick Santorum, Rick Perry & Mitt Romney. Well, ‘charismatic’ doesn’t really apply to the Romney-bot.]
The fascist view of a nation is of a single organic entity which binds people together by their ancestry [white, Christian] and is a natural unifying force of people. Fascism seeks to solve economic, political, and social problems by achieving a millenarian (the belief by a religious, social, or political group or movement in a coming major transformation of society, based on a one-thousand-year cycle – Hitler’s goal for the Third Reich) national rebirth, exalting the nation or race above all else [i.e. Mitt Romney’s “No Apologies” in response to Obama apologizing for all of the stupid, infantile shit that Bush perpetrated on the world – and the Republicans’ manufactured “Obama’s war against religion” where they insist religion should be a deciding factor in governance yet government should stay out of religion], and promoting cults of unity, strength and purity.
Fascist states pursued policies of social indoctrination through propaganda in education [Texas, anyone? ] and the media [Fox "News" - with their million dollar donation to the Republican Governor’s Association and support, fundraising, advertising and blatant support of the Tea Party and everything right-wing] and regulation of the production of educational and media materials [It wasn’t ‘slave trade,’ it was ‘North Atlantic Triangular Trade,’ silly. And the South seceding from the union had nothing to do with the preservation and expansion of slavery - all those times we mentioned slavery in our secession declarations, it was a typo, or something.]. Education was designed to glorify the fascist movement and inform students of its historical and political importance to the nation. [Those of you who live in the overwhelmingly Republican-dominated south understand the view down here of the hows and whys of the cause behind the Civil War (I mean, the War of Northern Aggression). And that they’re still fighting it. - The South will rise again. Against what, I wonder. And wouldn’t they have to have risen a first time for them to do it again?] It attempted to purge ideas that were not consistent with the beliefs of the fascist movement [Again, the Texas rewriting of school history books. And pretty much everything revisioned on FOX "News" as well.] and to teach students to be obedient to the state. Therefore, fascism tends to be anti-intellectual. [All these states with Republican governors - Wisconsin, Michigan, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Arizona, New Jersey, Virginia, etc. - just keep cutting the budgets for education and the funding for Public Broadcasting and any other social information source. At the same time they give tax breaks to corporations, which offsets any alleged fiscal responsibilityness. Goal: citizens stupid; corporations rich(er). If citizens are stupid, they’re easier to control. They are more likely to simply listen to what you SAY and not have the mind to investigate what you actually DO. Republican Politician: “I’m fiscally responsible and want smaller government!” Uneducated citizen: “Der, OK. I vote you.” Educated citizen: “But you want to give tax cuts to corporations which would result in a drop in state revenue causing a failure to support state infrastructure leading to massive job loss and at the same time you want to cut funding for necessary social programs like preK-12 education and prenatal healthcare and want to monitor every woman’s right to obtain an abortion which will increase the size of the government because of this new ‘big brother’ government agency you’ll create to do the monitoring.” No. We can’t have educated people questioning totalitarian authority, now, can we? And to be fair, some Democratic governors are cutting education budgets, too. But also not giving massive tax cuts to corporations. They’re actually being fiscally responsible. Mostly.]

The Fascist government in Italy banned literature on birth control and increased penalties for abortion in 1926, declaring both crimes against the state. [Do I need to talk about the conservative’s war on abortion rights  and birth control and Planned Parenthood (which actually prevents a crapload of abortions - not to mention Planned Parenthood services provided such as birth control; emergency contraception; screening for breast, cervical and testicular cancers; pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counseling; testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; comprehensive sexuality education, menopause treatments; vasectomies, tubal ligations and 2% of their total budget which is spent on providing abortion)? And Republicans’ attitude toward women in general is medieval. They’re now in Texas and Virginia forcing the State Government to rape a woman with a 10-inch plastic ultrasound wand against her and her doctor’s say. That’s right, the law says the doctor can’t stop the procedure. And Republicans say Obama wants the government between you and your doctor. They apparently believe women are too stupid to understand they are pregnant and it’s up to the fascist Republican government agencies to inform them of what they’re doing. This medically unnecessary procedure is Republican mandated human rights abuse solely designed to shame a woman into doing what Republicans want. In case you disagree with me that forcing a 10-inch rod into a woman’s vagina against her will is rape, the World Health Organization defines rape as “physically forced or otherwise coerced penetration — even if slight — of the vulva or anus, using a penis, other body parts or an object.”]
Fascism promoted principles of masculine heroism, militarism, and discipline and rejected cultural pluralism and multiculturalism. [Again: war good; anything not Christian or white: bad]
Fascist movements and governments opposed homosexuality [There’s no need to explain how much Republicans condemn, vilify, harass and outlaw every gay civil right, is there? I mean, they go so far as to legalize bullying in schools if it’s against gays – oh, sorry, I meant if it’s a religious belief. ]. The Italian Fascist government declared it illegal in Italy in 1931. The Nazis thought homosexuality was degenerate, effeminate, perverted, and undermined the masculinity that they promoted, because it did not produce children [Exactly like what the Republican party says today.]. They considered homosexuality curable through therapy, citing modern scientism and the study of sexology, which said that homosexuality could be felt by "normal" people and not just an “abnormal” minority. Critics denounce the Nazis' claim of scientific reasons behind their promotion of racism and hostility toward homosexuals as pseudoscience. [Republicans and Christians still tout this type of pseudoscience as legitimate to this very day. I hope you haven’t forgotten Marcus, the extremely closeted gay Republican husband of educationally-challenged Michele Bachmann and his ‘pray away the gay’ clinic. Or THIS  kind of shit.] Open homosexuals were among those interned in Nazi concentration camps.

There has been debate as to the nature of Fascism and even whether it is a coherent ideology. One view is that it is not a real ideology at all; that it is a form of irrational and opportunistic politics only committed to nihilistic violence that has no logical or rational definition, and that its official ideological components are only tools of propaganda and are often contradictory. [Ever listen to a Republican try to explain why 30-round magazines are NOT why more people were killed in Arizona at the Giffords incident as opposed to a 10-round magazine? Or how trickle-down economics {taking more money from the middle class and giving it to the top 2% richest} is beneficial to everyone and not just millionaires – even though that has never fucking happened? Talk about contradictory. And how they always want to go to war over everything and see using diplomacy to solve conflict as being weak? "That old Beach Boys song, 'Bomb Iran.'"  It’s all about lining their pockets with cash. They irrationally and opportunistically use patriotism and fear-mongering to feed the Iron Triangle. ]

Fascism has been accused of being a capitalist tyranny that attempts to make conservative reaction popular to the working class but in practice it actually represses the working class. It has been said to be a political offensive against the working class, a servant of big business and agrarian and industrialist capitalism. [The Citizens United  ruling by the Supreme Court gives corporations virtually complete control over voting in the United States. The ability to pump unlimited money into a campaign to buy votes and ultimately, the politician, renders the average citizen’s vote useless. And one would only believe the Republican Party is for smaller government and the working class if they only listened to what Republicans SAID. However, if you looked at what they DO, you’d storm their stronghold with torches and pitchforks screaming, “Kill the monster!” There is a LOT to be said for propagandist advertisement (and a bit of that anti-education thing, too). Trickle-down economics only makes the rich richer and the poor poorer . That is a proven fact contrary to right-wing propaganda/advertising. In 1980, George H.W. Bush didn’t call “Reaganomics” by the more apropos name “Voo-Doo Economics” because he is stupid. He called it that because he knew tax cuts do NOT pay for themselves unless by magic. Of course, he only called it that when he was running for Republican nomination against Reagan - not after he became Ronnie’s VP. And his son often said that cutting taxes creates revenue - which LITERALLY means: collecting less money creates more money.]

And there you have it. My comparison between Fascism and the Republican Party. Take it or leave it.

Scholars generally consider fascism to be on the far right of the political spectrum. Although I have heard Glenn Beck say it was a wholly radical far left ideal. And Sean Hannity said it, too.

And Bill O’Reilly.

And Megyn Kelly.

And everyone on Fox and Friends.

Michele Bachmann.

Ann Coulter.

Rush Limbaugh.

Michelle Malkin.

Hm. Upon further investigation, I feel the scholars may be wrong. It’s very likely that multi-millionaire right-wing biased pundits and bloggers may be correct… Much in the same way that Gas & Oil-backed politicians know more about climate change than do the actual climate scientists themselves.

One, only one, major difference I could find between the ideals that make up Fascism and the ideals that make up the conservative Republican/Tea Party: Fascism disagrees with conservatism’s typical opposition to change and modernization. Fascism looks forward whereas conservatism looks back. Strangely, Republicans wax romantic about the 50’s when the top tier tax rate was around 90% as opposed to now, which is 35%. That might have something to do with them having no knowledge of history (or the present). This is a side effect of only listening to FOX “News” for information (and a bit of that anti-education thing, too). It’s just a Republican donation generating machine (FoxPAC?) that constantly contradicts itself in trying to twist all it says to fit the model of Republicans being sent down directly from heaven and America being (as Hannity so often puts it) the greatest, bestest, most awesomest, purest, perfectest country ever made by God. And that Democrats are Satan-spawn and hate America and want us to die. Which makes total sense. If you don’t think about it (uneducated people never do).

Wherein lies the problem. Thinking. People mistake parroting for thinking.

***TANGENT ALERT*** Sarah Palin is the perfect example. She parrots every conservative/religious talking point she ever hears - and almost never in a coherent sentence. ‘Cause she’s one a them there charismatic idiots. She speaks in word-salads but conservatives go nuts with cheers because she hits all the right-wing talking points: God, guns, freedom, America, tax cuts, pro-life, illegals, terrorists, helicopter moose hunting, stable economy, balance the budget, etc. But she never actually says anything about that stuff or the manner in which those policies would work. She just says the individual words. She should have her own reality show. She’s the perfect kind of dipshit for… hey. Waitaminit…

I shouldn’t bag on Palin. All Republicans of note hit those talking points. It’s just that if you think “What do you read?” is a ‘gotcha’ question, then you are an idiot. A complete fucking idiot. Her being picked on has nothing, NOTHING to do with being a woman. If you constantly thrust your family in front of the media and complain the media is talking about them, (and you, yourself make fun of other peoples’ families while complaining about it) you are a self-centered, drama-queen, pseudo-victim, asshole, media-whore. The right-wing morons that claim Liberals are picking on her only because she’s a Conservative woman would have to intentionally exclude all the Conservative MEN that Liberals also pick on for that stupid hypothesis to work. It’s their intelligence that is ridiculed, not their gender. However, the Teabaggers appeared with protest signs aimed solely at Obama’s race before any of his policies went into effect, so what exactly were they galvanizing against? (See previous post “Racism: It’s What’s For Dinner” March 5, 2012) ***TANGENT ALERT OVER***

Is the United States of America the greatest country in the world? Maybe. Maybe not. I don’t care. I love America. As fucked up as the situation is here, there is nowhere else on Earth I would rather be. But to be so fucking pompous and conceited as Mitt Romney and Sean Hannity and the like, to believe we never, ever, under any circumstances make mistakes (Hey, remember during World War II, when President Roosevelt imprisoned over 120,000 American citizens of Japanese descent in concentration camps? George Takei and his family lived in two of them for over four years. Well, no apologies, right?), you’d have to be one god damned stupid motherfucking son of a bitch. Of course, to them, Republicans are always right and Democrats are always wrong - that hypocrisy seems to escape their tiny lemming minds. But questioning authority is good. We are not mindless automatons, obedient to our masters. America is of, by and for the people. Our voices need to be heard. That’s why we vote. If America was perfect always no matter what, then why vote? There would be no need to. We’re perfect, right? (The Citizens United ruling kind of makes this scenario null anyway.)

Currently, there are no concentration camps containing the entire middle class and other undesirables. That could be a second difference between Republicans and Fascists, but outright revolt by half of the country is, I believe, the only thing stopping Republicans from trying it. Every once in a while, an unrestrained Republican lets their true party ideals slip out:

“But, Bill, that’s only two guys. You can’t condemn the entire Republican Party because of only two nut-jobs.”

Yes. You’re right. That was unfair of me. I did blow that out of proportion. No other Republicans feel that way.

Sean Hannity said, regarding 'Arab Spring,' the uprising in Egypt and the Middle East, “Is this almost predictable? Conservatives, Republicans get in power, they want to advance the cause of liberty and freedom, i.e. Reagan, i.e. George W. Bush. Democrats get in power... and you see this shift go on in the world. It seems to be connected. Am I off base on that? …The only democracy that has emerged when you see uprising like this, is in Iraq. Name me one other example. I can’t think of one in history.”

Off base? Correct me if I’m wrong, but in neither case, i.e. Reagan, i.e. George W. Bush, would America invading and occupying other countries be considered an ‘uprising.’ Pretty sure that’s called an INVASION. And Arab Spring has NOTHING TO FUCKING DO WITH AMERICA despite Hannity’s claim of connectivity. Aside from that revisionist assholery, it seems to me it took only about a month into when the Republicans/Teabaggers gained control of the House before they tried to regress the cause of liberty and freedom right here in the United States and fomented massive actual uprisings by the citizens all over the country. Displeasure with their Fascist plans is high by a majority in both conservative and liberal polls.

Americans opposed to stripping union collective bargaining:
NYT/CBS poll 60%
USA Today/Gallup poll 61%
Rasmussen poll 57%
NBC/WSJ poll 62%

And let’s not forget the Republican war on women. Preventing the Constitutionally protected right to an abortion, prohibiting birth control, forced Government ultrasound rapes – I can’t even keep up with all the retrograde policies they’re implementing. The world has long ago solved these issues and moved past them. Women are literally storming State Capitals protesting for their already Constitutionally protected rights – again.

Is this extreme move toward Fascism just a desperate, death throe attempt by an out of touch, dying Grand Old Party to regain past glory? It seems they pretended to run on jobs only to get into office just so they could wage a social and economic war on middle class Americans (like they always do, so no one should have been surprised). A take over by force as opposed to democracy does work, after all. And if democracy isn’t working for you…

This type of behavior reminds me of a time when the level of intelligence was on par with that of the world being flat.

Hitler and his wife of one day, Eva Braun committed suicide in an underground bunker; she by cyanide capsule, he by Walther PPK. Their bodies were brought outside, doused with gas and lit on fire as the Russian Army drew near.

“The political processes of our country are such that if a rule of reason is not applied in this effort, we will lose everything--even to a possible and drastic change in the Constitution. This is what I mean by my constant insistence upon "moderation" in government. Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are H.L. Hunt (you possibly know his background) [H.L. Hunt was a prominent Texas oil millionaire], a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”
- President Dwight D. Eisenhower (Republican) 1953 -1961

Hawkeye: War isn't Hell. War is war, and Hell is Hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse.
Father Mulcahy: How do you figure, Hawkeye?
Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell?
Father Mulcahy: Sinners, I believe.
Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock-full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.

And in case you were wondering, my intro ‘On with the show, this is it’ is a line from The Bugs Bunny Show song "This Is It (Bugs Bunny Overture)."

Overture, curtains, lights,
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it, you'll hit the heights
And oh what heights we'll hit
On with the show this is it

Tonight what heights we'll hit

On with the show this is it

After all, politics is just a big freakin’ show, isn’t it? Politicians are just actors getting wealthy by us paying them to entertain everyone with their fictitious stories.

And fuck you, you stupid, ignorant, racist, white, extremist, tea bagging TEA Party pieces of pseudo-patriotic eagle shit. I realize a lot of this current Republican fascism is due to your influence on the party. You’ve got Reagan rolling in his grave. So, until you either catch on or just go the fuck away, you fucking fucks, the rational, real Republican Party (last seen in the 1950’s) has no chance of survival. And if extremism destroys one of the two political parties we have in America, then there will only be one party. And do you know what that is?

Fascism.

Mission accomplished.

Party of Lincoln, my ass.

Good day.

P.S. - One last thing. Not really a Fascist comparison, just an observation: Katrina. Indian Ocean tsunami. Haiti earthquake. Japan earthquake, tsunami, nuclear fallout. Myanmar cyclone. Sichuan, China earthquake. And Republicans cut the budget for the National Weather Service including the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. I guess there was still one multi-millionaire straggler left somewhere that needed a tax break. They had to get that money from somewhere. Oh, and don’t think I don’t know those pussy Democrats backed them on this budget cut. Because they are spineless fucking pussies.

  2. Wow.... fascinating work. The problem is that those that need to read and understand it do not have the ability to do so. Thus our dilemma here in the U.S.. When 26% of Republicans polled believed the government response to Katrina was Obama's fault... how can we win this battle to educate our fellow citizens? 44% weren't sure! When Republicans after 2 years forget the fiasco of a pResident bush was and are now calling Obama the worst President in history what can we do? I am constantly calling out the lies posted by my right-wing conservative family and friends. I know many have just "unfriended" me so they don't look so ignorant when I give them facts dispelling their points of view. Anyway... thanks for continuing to educate as that is our only hope. That someday these people will see the light and realize that there are many more issues than abortion that need to be considered when voting for a candidate. Peace Kim

    1. Thanks, Kim!
It's worse - 29% think it's Obama's fault. The sad thing is, I think they'll die off before ever seeing the light.
      Take care!
