Keystone Republi-Cops

Republicans in Congress attached an arbitrary deadline to the payroll tax bill last November – which had nothing to do with payroll taxes. It required President Obama to make a decision on whether or not to approve the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline within two months. The State Department expressed it wouldn’t have the time to conduct environmental impact studies and find viable alternate routes.

On Wednesday, January 18, President Obama denied the permit.

Republicans, led by John Boehner, had this to say in response:

1. Obama prevented 130,000 jobs from being created.
2. Obama is preventing us from getting off of our dependence on foreign oil.
3. Obama is causing Canada to build a pipeline west to the Pacific and sell their oil to China.
4. Obama chose politics over jobs and energy security.

I would like to make a few, shall we say, minor corrections to what the Republicans, led by John Boehner, claimed:

1. This pipeline will not create 130,000 jobs. The Canadian company, Keystone XL itself estimated that 5,000 to 6,000 temporary jobs at MOST will be created. After that, approximately 50 (fifty) to 100 (one hundred) permanent jobs will have been created. A pipeline doesn’t need anybody other than a few key operators and a maintenance crew. It is a pipe. What does 130,000 minus 50 equal? A fucking huge Republican lie.
2. Canadian oil IS foreign oil. Americans need foreign oil to wean ourselves off of foreign oil? Republicans are stupid. And/or liars.
3. The whole entire fucking point of the pipeline is to ship crude oil from Canada directly to Texas as cheaply as possible so it can be refined and sold to FOREIGN markets. Virtually no permanent American jobs will be created. No one in America will benefit from the oil. Only oil companies will make a profit off of this pipeline. Oil only benefits oil companies in any scenario. No oil that is pumped from the Earth within America is kept by America, on or off shore. Ever. It is ALWAYS sold on the foreign market to the highest bidder for profit by oil companies. Or sold back to America if they bid the highest so oil companies make a profit. It’s called capitalism. Maybe you’ve heard of it? Republicans are lying.
4. Actually, it was the Republicans who chose personal profits and used politics to blame the President for their own continuing obstruction to job creation and energy security. They wanted to make Obama look bad. Republicans wanted to force Obama into making a decision to approve the pipeline thinking he would fear backlash before the election if he turned it down. In other words, they played politics. Again. This entire endeavor is about big oil profits. As I explained, this pipeline creates no jobs and secures no energy independence. However, investment in green energy would A) create jobs B) secure independence from foreign oil and C) create profits for corporations – just not oil corporations; green corporations. Basically a win, win, win scenario. Except for the oil industry. Oil is the past. We need to look to the future. It’s called progress. Republicans hate progress. And Republicans are big, fatty fat liars.

Oh, and one more thing:

John Boehner, Republican Speaker of the House and Pumpkin King of Halloween Land, has investments in seven companies that would make a profit from the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Now, you know that’s a politician that has YOUR best interests at heart.

John Boehner is a great man.

For me to poop on.

Good day.

Sad John Boehner Pumpkin King just wants to be more rich. Is that so wrong?
