Gun Control Is For Idiots

The third in my Facebook gun control debate series.

Fear-mongering riles my feathers.

It all starts with my innocent question.

Ok. I know it wasn’t innocent. I totally knew what it would happen. What can I say? I’m a dick. Deal with it.

Guns - Not Just For Breakfast Anymore

Showers don’t clean people.
Clothes don’t cover people.
Cars don’t transport people.
Houses don’t shelter people.
Chairs don’t seat people.
Forks don’t feed people.
And guns don’t kill people.

addcovers.com

The gun control issue is a perennial topic. The left-wingers believe there should be some common sense limits. The right-wing’s extreme, ignorant, alarmist overreaction is always that ‘Librulz want to take away all law abiding citizens’ guns then only criminals will have them how are we supposed to stop a tyrannical government freedom liberty don’t tread on me!’

I won’t tread on you. You’re doing a fine enough job of it yourself.

Needless to say, I get into this fantastically stupid argument all the time.

This weekend, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker, Jovan Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend – the mother of his three-month-old daughter – then committed suicide.

This event, as well as the two presidential candidates never fucking even fake coughing the word ‘gun’ during the entire debate season (much like the climate change issue), has inspired me to post a series of my conversations on the issue. Several other gun-related musings have been posted in this blog already. And I’m positive there will be more in the future.

Leonard Zelig

Shit. Here’s another one about Mitt Romney I was working on that became irrelevant after the election. It’s still accurate, just irrelevant since Romney himself has become irrelevant to American politics, other than as a comically pathetic footnote.

This one’s a rant, though, not a collection of articles. And fairly short. I’m sure it would have been longer had he been able to buy the election as Karl Rove and Sheldon Adelson hoped.

I’m pretty sure this is the last of the pre-election related material.

Attic Clean-Out

I collect articles well in advance of my posts. Some of them become a singular topic which I research the shit out of and some of them I never post. Other times, I post collections of topics I think people should be aware of.

After the presidential election, these sort of passed their expiration date.

Regardless, they’re still noteworthy. The good part is, you don’t really have to read the articles, you only need to read the titles or my short summaries to get the gist of each story.

Disagreeing to Agree

This one is fucked up. In other words, an average encounter with a Republican.

Richard, my good (ex)buddy, instinctively disagreed with my post. When I re-explained my point, he understood - and agreed.

However, like a dutiful member of the GOP, he continued his search for something that we must disagree over. Somehow, booing gay soldiers and climate change are related topics.

It’s like when you first saw “From Dusk Till Dawn. You were happily enjoying your bank-robbers-escaping-the-law flick, when half way through, it turned into a vampire movie.

Yeah. This is just like that. Only four times as exciting. Trust me. Maybe.

The climate change aspects covered in my last post are largely different from the ones coming up next, so don’t worry about repetition. This is a whole new gravy boat full of dunce-tastic blabber-speak.

I suppose I’m on a climate change kick because we just had a presidential election season and I’m a little pissed that neither candidate mentioned the subject – even as one walked through the aftermath of the most devastating storm to hit the Northeast in memory, which was fuelled by climate change and the other pretended to care about its victims. That’s right, fuck you, Shitt Smarmy, or whatever your name was.

The Politics of Science of Climate Change

Many moons ago, my (ex)buddy, Richard posted a FOX “News” article about a Nobel prize-winner coming out against climate change.

I didn’t come cross this post until later, after the discussion was well underway, which is fine because I only had one little, eensy-weensy, teensy-tiny thing to say on the matter – to which nobody posted anything in reply. That disappointed me, but oh well. Sometimes, people just ignore me for some reason.

Class War: Trickling on the Middle Class

This is sort of a sequel to my previous post, “Class War.” A month after that “discussion,” Warren Buffett wrote an article in the New York Times and Jon Stewart referred to it on the 8/18/11 Daily Show episode, appropriately titled “World of Class Warfare.”

A friend posted Mr. Buffett’s article on his Facebook page and wondered what his conservative friends thought of it. Here is that short but sweet thread, including the subsequent right wing, anti-factual, knee-jerk response…

This one involves my other good buddy, Kathy.

Class War: Voter Suppression

Here’s an old debate I had with my buddy, Richard, back before he “de-friended” me on Facebook.

I’m posting it now because the Presidential election is tomorrow and we cover Republican voter suppression tactics. Well, I cover them. He denies them.

Also, I explain in fairly decent detail what happened during the fraudulent Bush v Gore election in 2000.

But most importantly, I wrote a badass version of Green Eggs and Ham.

Sorry that this is a bit verbose. I can’t control the amount of bullshit that squeezes out of a right-wing pie hole.

Since my last post was all about the truths surrounding Obama, I will counter it with a post about all the lies surrounding Romney. It’s only fair that I try to be bi-partisan.

'Fair and Balanced' is my motto, after all.

I know it’s difficult to keep up with all the bullshit that flows out of the Mittster’s ass. That’s why I try to keep track for you. You have no idea how many shovels I’ve gone through.

Mitt Romney Style

On 10/11/12, Mittington R. Moneyfucker said in an interview with The Columbus Dispatch:

“We don’t have a setting across this country where if you don’t have insurance, we just say to you, ‘Tough luck, you’re going to die when you have your heart attack.' No, you go to the hospital, you get treated, you get care, and it’s paid for, either by charity, the government or by the hospital. We don’t have people that become ill, who die in their apartment because they don’t have insurance.”

The Reign of Obama and His Super-Majority

Turtle-American and Republican House Leader Mitch McConnell gave an interview to his hometown newspaper. In the interview, he said, “Our view is, [Obama] has done a very poor job. "The Conservative Factor"

Question: What is the difference between the Republican Party and a religious cult?

Answer: The Republican Party is better funded.

Monday, September 3, 2012

Thorium, Indium, Potassium

If any of you who watched any of the Republican convention last week possess even a fraction of a percent of a functional brain, you are fully aware that almost the entire shindig was nothing but lie after debunked lie. Debunked or not, Republicans continue to vomit them from their lie-holes with glee. Politically, people have always tried to argue their point around the edges of reality. That’s expected. But the Republican Party of today has now fabricated an entirely fictitious universe and condemns those who dare expose their lies. This and more.

2nd Amendment Ludicrocity*

I originally wrote this one a little over a year ago when NRA lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre was at yet another CPAC convention claiming that Government policies kill people, not guns. And the Teabagger Party was eating it up like it was a deep fried stick of butter covered in powdered sugar and chocolate sprinkles. It was shortly after U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords and eighteen others were shot at a public meeting, resulting in six deaths.

In light of the most recent mass shootings by American-born and bred terrorists at the Batman movie premiere in Colorado and the Sikh Temple a week later in Wisconsin and the gun people continually proclaiming, “Now is not the time to discuss gun control,” after every mass shooting, I felt the need to post it now. I’ve also added some new info. This may seem choppy in thought at times, but I’m aggravated and I’m trying not to curse so much. So give me a fucking break.

It's the Denial of Truth, Stupid

My good buddy, Mark simply posted a link to a Mother Jones article about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. There are tons of charts explaining everything and more links in the article leading to more charts. Simple, straightforward. What the What?

OK. So, this website put up an article about how FOX “News” uses selective editing in the way they manipulate their “reporting.” It was a good article, showing what FOX said and juxtaposing that with the full transcript of the actual interview. Naturally, FOX edited out the parts that contradict the Roger Ailes anti-liberal mandate.

Since I had done a blog post about that very same thing several months ago, I posted a link to it in the comments section.

Then, the troll showed up. Since I often read the comments sections of articles I read, I’ve seen this nitwit before. I think you may have an idea of what transpires next.

The Affordable Fear-Mongering Act

The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was upheld by the Supreme Court. Republicans are not the smiley happy bumble bees they usually are.

Here are my quick thoughts. Enjoy...

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Papiere, Bitte.

Or, in this case, "Documentos, por favor."

The Supreme Court knocked down three of the four provisions before them regarding the Arizona “Papers, Please” SB 1070 bill. The one they left in place was the provision that police could ask to see the identification of anyone AFTER THEY ARE ARRESTED. The racial profiling, pre-arrested, show-me-your-papers part of SB1070 was struck down. No matter what nut-job Republican Governor Jan Brewer and FOX “News” says.

The Left seems to think they scored a big victory, seeing as how 75% of the provisions were struck down. The Right seems to think that they scored a big victory, seeing as how the Supreme Court upheld the provision that police are able to arrest “illegals,” which they already could anyway.

What’s the reality of the situation?

PolitiFiction

Florida is illegally purging voter rolls before a Presidential election in order to allegedly weed out non-citizens (why does this sound familiar?). Republican Governor Rick Scott is suing the Department of Homeland Security so he can gain access to a database to help the state continue with its illegal purge. Florida is violating the National Voter Registration Act and the Voting Rights Act with this illegal purge. The Department of Justice is suing Florida to stop this unlawful conduct. Governor Scott is not stopping. However, the 67 Florida Election Supervisors in charge of purging the rolls have unanimously told Governor Scott to go fuck himself since massive amounts of people on the faulty purge lists have been confirmed US citizens. The Supervisors are no longer continuing the illegal purge; many have reinstated previously purged names. The Supervisors, thirty of whom are Republicans themselves, believe Governor Scott is in violation of Federal law, or at least wish to wait until the court cases between the state of Florida and the Federal Government are resolved.

Not so strangely, as with the fraudulent purge in 2000, the lists overwhelmingly contain registered Democrats and minorities, who statistically vote Democratic.

In honor of this current, blatant (and ever-continuing) voter-suppression of Democrats by Republicans, here is the 'PolitiFiction' post I promised you in my “Fruits of "Illegal" Labor” post.

Cults of Intolerance

I’ve been sitting on this one for a little while because I didn’t really know how to begin. This religion-influenced ignorance burns me the fuck up. Organized religions are nothing more than cults of hate and intolerance. All organized religions.

“But, Bill,” you might argue, “Religious people are good people. Don’t single out the extremists as the norm.”
“No,” I reply, “Religious people are not good people. They are hateful, intolerant people and consistently use their holy books as an excuse to spread their own ignorance, hate and intolerance. That is their norm. There are no religious people who are good, however, there are good people who are also religious. There is a big difference.”

Guns: FACT.

Sticking with the gun theme of the last two posts, here’s a good one from six months ago. My ever-so-eloquent ex-dance partner, Richard, had a problem with me calling out the NRA Executive VP for shitting out a pile of lies. And as we all know, guns are always right, so I’m the asshole.

When Wayne La Douchebag proclaims Obama has a secret plan to take away everyone’s guns if he’s re-elected based on the fact that he’s only relaxed gun laws, that is NOT fear-mongering. It is “the truth.”

Republicans seem to have a problem with the definition of certain words. Like ‘fact’ and ‘truth.’

When Victims Attack!

Part 2: Liberal Welfare Kills

Part 2 is going to be a little different. There’s no real need for me to add comments since this is pretty much just between Bobby and me. I answer all his posts directly anyway. I will do it occasionally, but not as much as in past posts.

You will notice I often point out that what he keeps saying has nothing to do with the Treyvon Martin case and try to steer it back. But Bobby won’t have it. He wants to talk about racist Liberal welfare programs only. He never explains how welfare programs are only Liberal and aimed only at keeping black people down, but just that they are. And I’m stupid for not accepting it.

I apologize if the conversation circles back around on itself a few times. That happens when you insist something to be true without any proof and it’s the only thing you have to say so you keep saying it. And your only defense being the absolute denial of  any contradictory facts. I tried to edit it down, but it’s like trying to cut all the lines of fat out of marbled beef. It’s impossible and you would lose the flavor anyway.

When Victims Attack!

Part 1: Evidence? Who Cares?

I find it amusing when people who only watch right-wing news have the balls to proclaim they know what the left-wing news is talking about. How would they know? They never, under any circumstances, ever watch it. Oh, I get it. Limbaugh and Hannity tell them what liberals are saying. Of course that’s how they know! And Limbo and Hannity would never lie to push their agenda.

Here is a very long “discussion” about the Treyvon Martin case. One of I’m sure many going on in America where the gun-totin’ Constitution-loving Republicans unquestioningly support the stalker with the gun over the kid with the Skittles – regardless to all contrary facts.

I’m going to break this one up into two parts. There’s sort of a natural break point where my buddy Richard pushes his eject button and bails out of the conversation. Fear not, true believers. He has a worthy successor.

A Killer Waste of Breath

Oh, boy.

These Facebook “discussions” I get myself into really do pile up quickly. I put many of them on the back burner until I can revisit them later. Often, a reason will pop up and spur me to finally post an old one. This particular reason popped up six months later – to the day.

This time, a new discussion was similar to an old one, so I glued them back-to-back in this post for two reasons:
1) A common theme – murder
2) The same misogynistic dim-wit is my muse

The names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty – and all the shady characters in between. Normally, I would correct the spelling, but in this case it lends to the authenticity and production quality of this episode.

Women Are Stupid

Did that title grab your attention?

My other buddy who defriended me on Facebook makes another appearance this go around. Yeah, Gomer is pale in comparison to Richard, but he holds his own here. It’s not logical and it’s quite ignorant, but he sure is holding it.

OxyContin addict, Rush Limbaugh, in his ever-loving misogynistic way, attacked some women the other day – you may have heard about it, and Gomer, the ever-loving right-wing lemming decided to follow suit.

A friend posted a link to an article, and a Facebook dialogue ensued.

Already pissed off at this unending attack on women by Republicans, I was not particularly kind or patient with my responses to Gomer. In fact, I was spreading my sarcasm as thick (and delicious) as peanut butter.

The names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty – and all the shady characters in between. I did not correct spelling. It lends to the production value.

It is a comparison between Fascism as proposed by Mussolini in his Doctrine of Fascism written in 1932 and the Republican Party in America as it currently stands in 2012. I was reminded of this rant since the topic of Fascism came up (albeit by me) during the conversation I had in a recent post titled, “Manufactured Outrage,” on 28 February. Please give it a perusal if you haven’t already. Personally, I find the conversation posts to be more interesting than my mono-perspective rants.

I’ve been calling Republican ideals Fascist for a while now. But I’m not doing it in the ignorant, baseless, moronic, fear-mongering way that Republicans proclaim anything not right-wing extreme to be Marxist, communist, Muslim, anti-Constitutional, anti-Christ, Kenyan, no birth certificate, illegals. I base what I say on actual, researchable facts.

But tell me, is my ‘Republican Fascism’ hypothesis wrong?

The problem with not speaking in bumper sticker-length phrases for small minds to comprehend is that this one’s quite lengthy, so make a pot of coffee first.

Racism: It's What's For Dinner

I’m pretty sure the title gives a good enough set-up for this rant.

Manufactured Outrage

I told you in my 14 February post, “Preconceived Reality," to stay tuned for another post about a self-aggrandizing soldier. Though, he isn’t just self-aggrandizing, he’s downright dis-fucking-respectful. And quite shameful to boot.

Other than that, this one’s fun. I lay out a bunch of facts, only to be rebutted with, basically: Nuh-uh. You’re a liar and I’m a soldier, so I’m awesome.

If you’ve been following my blog, you may have noticed a pattern in the Republican thought process. It never varies and is absolutely amazing. I explain it in my last response of this thread.

The names have been changed to protect the innocent and the guilty – and all the shady characters in between.
